A facial cleanser is a skincare product used to remove make-up, dead skin cells, oil, dirt, and other types of pollutants from the skin, helping to keep pores clear and prevent skin conditions such as acne.
Finding the best cleanser can be tough given there are so many options. Knowing the differences between them will help you choose the best products for your skin.
Gel cleansers are clear with a gel-like consistency. Many have deep-cleaning and exfoliating properties—ideal for oily, acne-prone skin.
Cream cleansers are usually thicker and can be moisturizing, cleansing without stripping skin of its natural oils—ideal for dry or sensitive skin.
Foam cleansers are lightweight solutions creating a foamy lather when dispensed from a pump package. Foam cleansers are pleasant to use and remove excess oil as effectively as gel cleansers—ideal for combination skin.
These are my favourite cleansers of 2021:
💦 @cerave Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser – this foaming formula is suitable for delicate skin and skin prone to mild eczema. It contains 3 ceramides to help strengthen and maintain the skin barrier, and triglycerides and squalane oil to help replenish natural skin’s lipids, suitable for normal to dry skin on the face of body.
💦 @youthtothepeople Kale+ Green Tea Spinach Vitamins – it smells so fresh kinda like cut grass. My skin looks way more hydrated, way more clean and my natural glow is way more visible after this.
💦 @paulaschoice Pore Normalizing Cleanser- this gentle, acne-fighting cleanser remove excess oil, pore-clogging debris and makeup without drying skin or causing redness. After this my skin feels clean and has stopped my breakouts entirely. 🤍

When fall and winter comes around, there is nothing more important than having a routine that is based in hydration.
Toner vs Essence:
A toner is typically swiped over the face with a soaked cotton pad, and an essence is pressed straight into the skin. … Essences are better forsoothing irritated skin, hydrating a dehydrated skin and helping your skincare absorb more effectively.
Why you should use a toner/essence:
Toner removes any last traces of dirt, grime and impurities stuck in your pores after you wash your face. When added to your daily skincare routine and used regularly, it can have major positive impact on the appearance and tightness of your pores.
Are toners really necessary?
No, toning is not necessary for skin health. Toners were originally developed to remove soap scum from the face when lye-based soaps combined with hard water left a sticky residue post cleansing. The alcohol-based toner removed the soap scum eliminating irritation and contributing to cleanser mildness.
These are my top 4 hydrating toners/essence’s for this winter that everyone should try 🤍

@laneige_europe Cream Skin Refiner- omg if you didn’t tried this yet, definitely you should!!!This product is amazing! Helped me so much when my skin barrier was compromised and is the main product that’s giving me a crazy glowy skin. It’s a creamy toner with the consistency of water. Love it! 33 $ at @sephora
What’s your favourite toner/essence? I am really courious 🥰
Most of the barrier damage comes from stripping your skin of its natural oils with harsh cleansers, acne medication, and acids. Scrubbing too hard, waxing, and using DIY ingredients like lemon and baking soda, and on some skin types, alcohol and fragrance are also common culprits for damage.
Signs of a Damaged Skin Barrier
Disruption in the core functions of the skin barrier can present in a number of ways, including:
Rosacea and eczema. These conditions are partly caused by a genetic defect in the skin barrier. However, additional outside damage to the skin barrier can cause these conditions to flare up.
Chronic skin irritation
Dehydrated, dull skin
Delayed wound healing
What Can Damage Your Skin Barrier?
In general, life damages the skin barrier.
Use of cleansers that strip the skin barrier of its natural oils
Overuse of exfoliating acids
Use of harsh physical exfoliants
Lack of sleep
A combination of avoidable and unavoidable daily habits cause varying degrees of damage to the skin barrier.
How do you fix a damaged skin barrier? Hydrate Continuously. A damaged epidermis requires moisture, so keeping your face and body well hydrated is critical in the fight to restore and maintain a healthy skin barrier. Reach for creams, lotions and serums that contain moisture-binding humectants, such as glycerin, sorbitol, ceramides and hyaluronic acid.
These are the 3 most used products by me when my skin gets damaged:
@cosrx Snail Mucin- this stuff is awesome; it has made a huge difference in my skin. I have oily acne prone skin and this smoothed out my skin, helped with hyperpigmentation and is my saviour when my skin barrier is damaged! I totally recommend this to anyone! ✨
@vegreen_official Cica Serum – this serum contains Centella Asiatica extract to soothe and moisturize sensitive skin. It has a lightweight texture that get’s absorbed into the skin very quickly.
@cerave Hydrating Cream – has a unique formula that provides 24-hour hydration and helps restore the protective skin barrier with 3 essentials ceramides and hyaluronic acid. It has a non-greasy texture and is fast absorbing ideal for sensitive skin on both face and body.
I know how hard it is to make courage to pitch yourself to a brand. Been there and it was really scary!
At first I didn’t know how to reach out to brands, I didn’t know what to say , how my email should look, and I din’t know if I was qualified enough to collaborate with a brand. I was rejected many times, because most of the brands like just the gifting idea and they think that’s enough for our work.
The first step (and the hardest) is to know how to format your email pitch encouraging a brand to work with you. This email should be unique because brands receive tons of offers daily so you need to stand out and be persuasive.
These are some steps that you need to follow when creating the email:
Introduction Why are you reaching out?
Who you are What type of blogger are you? Which niche?
Why should they work with you Have you used the brand before? What are your favorite products?
Link to your social media Do you want to do a collaboration through Instagram or your blog? Both? Include that!
Statistics How many followers do you have? How many monthly readers?
Experience Who have you worked with in the past? Include examples and links!
And one of the most important steps: a MEDIA KIT
Brand Pitch Email Template:
“Hi [insert brand representatives name], My name is [insert your name here] and I am reaching out to you in regards to a collaboration. I love [brands name here] and believe your products align well with my brand.
I am a [niche here] influencer and/or blogger with [number of followers or readers here]. You can find me at [social media site here]. I have experience working with [insert brands here]. You can find some of my past work [link here] and [link two here].
Looking forward to your reply!
Thank you, [your name here]
Media kits are a type of pitch, a digital portfolio that tells the brands everything they need to know about you.To become a successful influencer, it is imperative for you to have an influencer media kit. When you reach out to brands, a media kit is the best way to showcase your work.
In simple words, an influencer media kit is a mix of the testimonials section, your work history. There are many free media kit templates available. All you need to do is enter your information into the template.
What to include:
Link to your social media accounts
Social media statistics and insights
Number of followers on each channel
Photos, samples, testimonies *
Media Kit Examples:
This is the first page on my media kit, and I have the basics here . I think is pretty simple and easy to read, I also showed to my friend and she told me that it looks very professional, hehe. Your media kit can contain just one page or you can make make a multiple page media kit, but don’t forget to update it every few months, just like you would with a resume.
Every email pitch should be personalized to the brand. You don’t want to forward the same email to 10 brands because that’ll be pretty obvious and not look good. If you haven’t tried their products out don’t fake it and say you have. Simply state that you’ve always been interested in giving their products a try. And the most important step trust yourself, be confident and get ready to be rejected many times until you get the first YES.
Pyunkangyul Calming Moisture Repair Balm is infused with skin-soothing extracts derived from centella asiatica, tea tree, and honeysuckle flower, and further enriched with Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 and Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, this concentrated balm soothes, repairs and protects sensitive and irritated skin. It’s free from 20 kinds of harmful chemicals.
My honest opinion:
This balm feels dreamy to apply! It goes a little thick and melts into the skin, leaving it smooth and calm! There is no greasy feeling, and makeup applies seamlessly on top of it! Also it immediately reduce the redness on the first application, and within two days of using it, you’ll feel like your skin is totally repaired! Very good for people with dry, sensitive or combo skin. Even my sensitive oily skin enjoys it! 🤍
How is the texture:
The texture is light, very easy to apply, spreads well and perfectly mousturizes without weighing down the skin!
I am really courious to try the rest of the line 🤍
Have you heard about the latest, greatest skincare ingredient? Bio-Retinol, the natural alternative to retinol, the vegan retinol, the plant based retinol, the natural retinol – all different names for one thing: Bakuchiol. ✨
What is backuchiol used for ?
Bakuchiol is found in the seeds and leafs of the Babchi plant, also known as Psoralea Corylifolia, so basically a plant extract. It is a natural occurring antioxidant and is called “herbal alternative to Botox” (no topical products are an alternative to something you inject, so let’s just forget that quickly) and “natural version of retinol”.
Bakuchiol has no structural resemblance to retinoid acid, but there are studies showing that it has similar effects on the skin,so let’s quickly look at the mechanisms of retinoids on your skin.
What is retinol used for?
Retinoic Acid works through specific receptors in the cell that trigger an increase in gene expression and increased production of collagen Typ I, III and IV as well as aquaporin 3 expression. Translated that means that your skins firmness and elasticity increase, while your wrinkles and fine lines decrease.
On top of that it speeds up cell turnover, which leads to younger looking, more even skin and less hyperpigmentation. 💦
How different are they?
Both Retinol and Retinaldehyde are precursors of Retinoic Acid that are slowly transformed into Retinoic Acid in the skin, which is why they act slower and are weaker in terms of effects and side effects. You can buy those as OTC products, while Retinoic Acid usually is prescription only.
All retinoids can lead to retinol dermatitis, a period of inflammation, dryness and flaking skin, typically occurring within the first four weeks of treatment. That can be prevented by using lower concentrations, slowly building up a tolerance or using the products less frequently than once a day. Some people though never tolerate retinoids. 💦
Do they both slow down the signs of aging?
Bakuchiol is a great retinol alternative for everyone that is sensitive to retinol side effects, but there is no need to replace the retinoids that have been working for you. And if you are on prescription strength, you won’t find the same effects in Bakuchiol products.
🌿 @theinkeylist Oat Cleansing Balm – works so well because of two key ingredients: oat kernel oil and colloidal oatmeal. The oat kernel oil is noncomedogenic (meaning it won’t clog your pores as it dissolve makeup and grime), it contains naturally occurring antioxidants, and because it’s a humectant, it’s an excellent hydrator. Colloidal oatmeal is excellent at cleansing the skin and is known for having soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.
What’s the texture?
The texture of this balm is thick and has a slight graininess to it, which m, once worked into the skin, dissolves easily.
This cleanser is unscented, which I love and very affordable 9.99 $.
It effectively removes all of my makeup, doesn’t cause irritation, it’s really good for sensitive skin.
How The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser works?
🌿 @deciem Squalane Cleanser contains squalane, lipophilic, and emulsifying sucrose esters ingredients. It’s suitable for all skin types.
This product looks like moisturiser when you squeeze it out of the tube, but it changes to an oil consistency when you rub it between your hands.
The cleanser washes off really well and doesn’t leave behind an oily film and my face felt moisturised and hydrated afterwards. I didn’t experienced any irritation.
This one also is unscented and affordable 7.99 $ .
What should you choose between them?
Well is hard for me to choose a favourite from this too, but @theinkeylist formula and texture works much better for me! 🤍
For a month I tested the new @cerave Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser that is formulated to be ultra-mild, yet effective in cleansing the skin of dirt, oil and pollution with moisturising the skin. 💦
Specifically formulated for?
This foaming formula is suitable for delicate skin and skin prone to mild eczema. It contains 3 ceramides to help strengthen and maintain the skin barrier, and triglycerides and squalane oil to help replenish natural skin’s lipids, suitable for normal to dry skin on the face of body.
You’ve seen on my IG that I am a big fan of Cerave, and I was really excited to try their new product.
Some of my favourite points about this product:
the texture is gel-like and really hydrating without dry out my skin
one pump is enough for my whole face, neck and chest
The only thing I would note is that you’ll still have to use a separate makeup remover, as this isn’t that effective as dissolving makeup and definitely won’t help you take off the waterproof mascara !
This is a nice gentle everyday cleanser, without any irritation. It is also fragrance free, a huge plus. 🤍
The Coco&Eve Coconut & Fig Hair Masque is one of my favourites. It’s a deeply conditioning hair treatment.
What does Coco and Eve hair mask do?
Your hair is going to go coco-nuts for the Like A Virgin hair treatment. The highly concentrated formula helps to improve the health of the hair by delivering hydration from root to tip to reveal lustrous locks. Formulated with coconut, fig, shea butter, linseed and argan oil to strengthen and restore hair so it’s ‘Like a Virgin’ again! Ideal for reviving dry hair damaged by heat styling, dyes and the environment, as well as taming frizz and split ends.
Free tangle tamer brush included to apply of the masque and detangle locks with minimal breakage.
My hair type:
Thick wavy frizzy hair, a little bit damaged with medium porosity.
At first I use the scalp scrub from Cristophe Robin ( Cleansing Purifying Sea Salt Scrub) and I like it to massage my hair with it for 2 minutes the I use a second shampoo from The Ouai (Detox Shampoo) and then I apply a hydrating mask or a hydrating conditioner.
How you should use Coco and Eve hair mask?
1. Shampoo your hairas normal then evenly distribute a generous amount of coconut hair mask to your towel dried hair.
2. Comb the product through the hair using the tangle tamer that comes with the mask.
3. Leave for 5 to 10 minutes then rinse with warm water.
4. You also can keep the masque in overnight using a microfibre towel wrap and wash out in the morning for super damaged hair or for even better results.
How my hair looks after the mask?
I can say that my hair definetely loves this mask. ’ve used this for a few weeks now and would definitely recommend it. I tend to wash my hair in the evening leave it in overnight on damp hair (don’t dry it) and wash it out in the morning. Smells lush, makes my hair feel super soft and healthy. The mask makes my hair silky soft, visibly less damaged and tangled, and it generally looks so much healthier. But aside from the good results, as I mentioned earlier, the mask smells incredible — honestly
The only thing that I do not like is that’s kinda expensive, but Iin the last few moths I’ve bought so many expensive hair and face products that I really don’t know how I will ever empty them :)). Seriously now it costs around 47 $ in Romania.
If you buy this hair mask you will not make mistake, this is the best I have ever tried. I get alot of compliments after I am using this one.
