Tretinoin 101: What Tretinoin is, How it Works, Side Effects and More

What is Tretinoin?

A potent prescription retinoid drug called tretinoin is used to treat acne and aging skin symptoms including fine lines and wrinkles. Although using tretinoin every night is generally safe, you might not want to due to the first adverse effects, especially when you first start. To prevent major skin irritation, redness, and other side effects, you should only use tretinoin as directed by your doctor.Applying moisturizer immediately before and after using tretinoin is one strategy to reduce side effects.

The most popular brands of tretinoin in the world are Retin-A®, Tretin-X®, Refissa®, Renova®, and Avita®. Tretinoin is an ingredient in many medicines sold internationally, including Stieva-A® cream.

What tretinoin products I currently use

Tretinoin is available in a variety of dose formulations. It’s most frequently sold as a cream, but it’s also available as a jelly, a gel, and a liquid solution.

Tretinoin is a first-generation retinoid that shares chemical similarities with vitamin A. Tretinoin (and other retinoids) can delay the appearance of acne and a number of common aging-related cosmetic symptoms by altering how skin cells mature.

How Tretinoin Works?

One intriguing aspect of tretinoin is that scientists aren’t entirely sure how it works to prevent acne, only that it does.

Tretinoin works by influencing the production of skin oils, though the precise mechanism by which the medication works is unknown. Tretinoin makes it much more difficult for pimples to form on the face and body by altering the way skin develops and decreasing oil levels.

How Tretinoin Works On Acne?

Tretinoin works to treat acne by keeping skin pores open. It has been shown in numerous studies to be an effective acne treatment for both inflammatory and noninflammatory acne. It reduces the stickiness of dead skin cells, which can clog pores and cause acne breakouts such as blackheads, whiteheads, and zits.

Tretinoin also reduces the size of pores and has anti-inflammatory properties that help with acne. Finally, it aids in the control of the oily sebum produced by the skin’s sebaceous glands.

How Tretinoin Works on Wrinkles?

Tretinoin’s anti-aging properties include reducing fine lines and wrinkles and smoothing skin in a variety of ways, including improving cell turnover. Tretinoin aids in the removal of unhealthy or dead skin cells, revealing the healthy skin beneath. It also keeps your skin plump and fights aging by protecting and eventually increasing collagen production and skin elasticity.

How to Use Tretinoin Cream for Best Results?

Tretinoin cream is typically applied before going to bed. To learn how to use tretinoin cream, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Wash your skin with warm water and a mild soap or cleanser. Allow the skin to completely dry.
Step 2: Apply just enough medicine to lightly cover the affected area. A pea-sized amount will cover the entire face.
Step 3: Gently massage it into the affected area.
Step 4: Wash your hands thoroughly.
Step 5: Wait 20 minutes before applying moisturizer if necessary.
Step 6: Wash your face in the morning with a gentle facial scrub or a rough washcloth. This will help to reduce visible flaking.
Allow skin to dry before applying a good water-based moisturizer.

Apply tretinoin every other or third night when you first begin using it. The flaking and irritation are usually the most severe during the first two weeks. You can apply the medicine more frequently as your skin adjusts to it.

It’s fine to take a couple of days off if you notice an increase in irritation or flaking. Just don’t stop taking the medication without first consulting your doctor.

Tretinoin Side Effects

Tretinoin, like all medications, has some side effects. Tretinoin, in general, is a safe and effective medication.

However, some users report side effects ranging from minor skin irritation that subsides with continued use to more serious adverse effects.

The most common side effect of tretinoin use is a warm, stinging sensation in the skin immediately after application of the medication. This is frequently accompanied by dry, itchy skin, redness, mild scaling, and a mild burning sensation.

Tretinoin may also cause your acne to worsen before it improves, a phenomenon known as “tretinoin purge,” which we’ve discussed in greater detail. Typically, the “purge” is only temporary and then disappears.

Many of these minor side effects will go away on their own, while others can be easily remedied by using a moisturizer or other skincare products to counteract the dryness caused by tretinoin.

Tretinoin can cause serious side effects such as facial swelling and burning, conjunctivitis, swelling of the eyelids, skin discoloration, and blisters. These are uncommon side effects that should be treated immediately by a medical professional.

Considerations for Using Tretinoin

Apply tretinoin at night and avoid the sun—Ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun reduces the active ingredient’s effectiveness.Furthermore, tretinoin can make your skin more sensitive and susceptible to sunburn. It is safe to continue using tretinoin during the hot summer months.Simply use as much shade and sunblock as possible, even on cloudy days.

Tretinoin can have unfavorable interactions with other skincare ingredients. While taking tretinoin, avoid products that tend to dry out your skin.Products containing spices, sulfur, lime, resorcinol, astringents, and salicylic acid should be avoided.

Wear a scarf or other face covering to protect your face from strong winds or cold; tretinoin can make you more sensitive to weather extremes.

asian sunscreen, gel sunscreen, sunscreen anti aging, sunscreen cream for face, sunscreen daily, sunscreen for oily skin

How much it costs?

It’s a really affodable sunscreen for 140g you will pay only 21$ and I think this is very resonable because this quantity if you apply and reapply daily it will last you 4-5 months.

What type of sunscreen it is?

Chemical sunscreen: diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate, dimethicone, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, ethylhexyl triazone sodium hyaluronate.

What type of skin should wear this?

They say all skin types, but I will recommend these to a combo-oily acne prone skin.

My thoughts:

Nivea Japan Sunscreen has a very watery gel texture ; if you’ve tried the InnisFree balancing lotion, it’s the same kind of somewhat moisturising, gelly-like consistency; it’s just viscous enough for you to apply on your face but still easy to apply.

It dries rapidly (since it contains alcohol), but it’s also marketed as a base for makeup, but it may be used all over the body.

It’s available in two sizes: 80g and 140g, and it’s frequently bundled with larger orders in a little little extra bottle.

Personally, I prefer the 80g due to the packaging and the lack of a pump top, but the 140g is clearly a better value (in terms of prices) The 140g is often a similar price to the 80g, as shown in the illustration, but it is not as convenient to travel with. As a result, I prefer the 80g, although you may obviously choose whatever one you like.

Why I would recommend this sunscreen in the end, especially to individuals who wear a lot of make-up and are concerned that traditional sunscreens may clog pores or look horrible on their skin tone: This is such an excellent base product.

Because of the alcohol base, it dries rapidly without being overly drying, and it doesn’t leave your skin glossy or tacky.

This means you may apply foundation as usual without fear of overdoing it or worrying about how the makeup will sit on top of the sunscreen.

Ingredients list:

Water, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, ethanol, PG, dimethicone, ethylhexyltriazone, hexyl diethylaminohydroxybenzoyl benzoate, sodium hyaluronate, phellodendron bark extract, quince seed extract, tocopherol acetate, (Acrylate / alkyl acrylate (C10-30)) ) Crosspolymer, Carbomer, Setes-10, Na Hydroxide, BHT, Methylparaben

A perfect 10/10 and a must-try for anyone who dislikes traditional sunscreens or wants to try something new!

How to grow organically on instagram in 2022

Is it still possible to increase your Instagram account organically in such a crowded influencer space?

YES, it is!!! Growing your Instagram following can help you drive more visitors to your website, improve sales, and even make you a trendsetting influencer.

There are a wide variety of ways to properly expand your Instagram following, and it all begins with creating the proper foundation (with purpose and plan) and understanding how the algorithm works. Here are a few (of many) tactics that I’ve tried and tested over the course of my 2 years as an influencer.

blogger brand collaborations, blogger collaborations, blogging advice for new bloggers, , get paid as a blogger, how to collaborate with brands, How to Turn Gifted Blogger Collaborations into Paid Collaborations, how to work with brands, How to Work with Brands as a Blogger, Petite Blogger, petite style, reaching out to brands as an influencer, , tips for influencers who want to work with brands

a) The first impression is crucial

People have an average attention span of 8 seconds. A potential follower has just 8 seconds to evaluate whether or not you’re someone they’d like to follow, so make sure they know what to expect from you and your work right away. Consider your Instagram account to be a portfolio or a cv. Your profile should give them a good idea of who you are.

b) Take full advantage of almost everything Instagram has to offer.

  • Static Feed (up to 10) (Photo, Video, Carousel
  • Instagram Television (IGTV) (with the option to post on your static feed)
  • Instagram Stories are visual representations of events that occur on (using the polls, questions and sticker options)
  • Highlights of the narrative
  • Incorporating call-to-action buttons (ie. Share, Save, Turn On Notifications, Swipe Up links, etc.)

c) Improve the Searchability of Your Post Captions

Optimizing your Instagram posts for search is a significant Instagram hack for increasing your following.

Following a recent Instagram update, English-speaking users in six countries can now search Instagram using keywords.

d) Use a hashtag strategy

Instagram hashtags are one of the most powerful growth tools at your disposal, and they should not be overlooked.

Hashtags are a great method to grow your Instagram following and reach more people. When you use a hashtag, your post will show up on the hashtag’s page. If you include a hashtag in your Story, it may appear in the related hashtag Story, which is also displayed on the hashtag page.

How many hashtags should you use on Instagram?

A standard post can include up to 30 hashtags, while a Story can have up to 10. Your remark or caption will not post if you try to include more.

However, just because you have the ability to use so many hashtags on Instagram doesn’t mean you should. For each business, or even each post by the same firm, there is no “correct” quantity of hashtags.

The general agreement is that 11 hashtags is a decent place to start. However, the most common hashtag count on Instagram is between one and three.

To figure out what works best for your account, you’ll need to conduct some research.

e) Cross-promote your Instagram account across many platforms

Cross-promoting your Instagram account on other platforms is a wonderful place to start if you’re looking for additional strategies to build your Instagram following.

TikTok is a popular app for advertising your Instagram account.

Connecting your Instagram account to your TikTok is one of the first things you can do on TikTok to assure Instagram traffic.

After that, you can make a few TikToks to encourage people to visit your Instagram page.

If TikTok isn’t a part of your marketing plan, you can send visitors to your Instagram account using your website, email newsletter, podcast, or another social media platform.

f) Make Your Content User-Friendly

Over 430 million individuals worldwide are deaf or hard of hearing, and at least 2.2 billion have eyesight problems.

Here are four easy steps you can take right now to make your Instagram account more accessible and inclusive:

  • Subtitles or text overlays can be added to video content (including Instagram Videos, Stories, and Reels)
  • Create descriptive alt text for your Instagram posts by hand.
  • During storytelling and films, mention visual details.
  • In Instagram hashtags, capitalize each word. This makes it easier for screen-readers to read them aloud correctly.

TIP: Instagram has just provided auto-generated captions for stories in 16 languages, making it easier than ever to make your content more accessible.

g) Post More Consistently

Consistency is the name of the game when it comes to Instagram growth.

One of the most important results was that accounts with more regular posts had more followers.

Quality content that provides real value to your readers, on the other hand, should always take precedence over quantity.

f) In the Name Field of Your Bio, Include Keywords

Did you realize that the words you use in your Instagram bio’s Name Field can be searched?

If your company specializes in custom artwork, for example, you might want to use keywords like “Art” or “Artwork” in your Name Field.

Think about your specialty, what industry you’re in, who you’re targeting, and what solution you’re offering.

f) If you can, post every single day

I know this sounds overwhelming, but it’s the best strategy for me and my account. Of course, your content should be relevant and good quality, you can’t post just random stuff.

Here are some of my latest Instagram insights:

g) Get yourself out of all the engagement groups

I know how hard it is to receive likes, comments and stuff and how tempting these groups are ( and trust me I’ve been in many, till 2-3 months ago :)) ) but these groups helps you on short term.

I don’t know how, but Instagram always found out about these and you can risk for your account to be suspended or you can’t use all the monetisations features because they will label you as you are not “An Established Presence” .

For example my account, where I post every day and I have more that 17K followers is ineligible to use branded content tools because I was on these groups or because I liked, commented on post in a very short period of time and Instagram considered me a robot.

Not the same thing happens on another instagram account where I have like 50 followers, there I am Eligible to use all the monetizations features.

blogger brand collaborations, blogger collaborations, blogging advice for new bloggers, , get paid as a blogger, how to collaborate with brands, How to Turn Gifted Blogger Collaborations into Paid Collaborations, how to work with brands, How to Work with Brands as a Blogger, Petite Blogger, petite style, reaching out to brands as an influencer, , tips for influencers who want to work with brands

I’ve requeste many times for Instagram, to see that I am not a robot but they just don’t care and don’t make me eligible no matter how hard I try. So, if you have any tips on how should make this process faster please let me know in the comments or DM me on Instagram!

Growing your Instagram account may appear to be a difficult task, but with the appropriate approaches and ideas, you can certainly increase your Instagram followers.

Posting creative material, targeting the correct people, and taking advantage of Instagram’s new features and trends are all part of the strategy.

Affordable drugstore skincare products under 17$

Hi friends! Because I’ve saw how much you liked my previous post where I’ve showed you my favourites affordable products under 15, here is another post with some drugstore products that I’m constantly using recently.

Hyaluronic Acid Serum from The Inkey List

This quickly absorbed super serum hydrates your skin and helps it appear plump and smooth while decreasing the appearance of fine wrinkles.

best skincare products, order of skincare products, affordable drugstore products, skincare products for acne, skincare products for men

The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid serum comes in a 30ml container, which is the first thing I’d want to point out. The plastic bottle is both compact and practical. The cover features a simple press-down flip-top mechanism. There aren’t any fancy glass bottles or droppers like in The Ordinary.

The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid includes 2% hyaluronic acid with three different molecular weights, hydrating your skin at various degrees depending on how far it can sink. This aids the product’s effectiveness on your skin.

In addition to hyaluronic acid, The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid contains the peptides Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-1, which together produce Matrixyl 3000, a collagen-boosting substance. This indicates that the hyaluronic acid in this serum is a little greater than your average hyaluronic acid serum.

best skincare products, order of skincare products, affordable drugstore products, skincare products for acne, skincare products for men

The consistency is a transparent, viscous lotion. In a hyaluronic acid serum recipe, this isn’t unusual.
Before applying to my skin, I normally put around 2-3 drops (The Inkey List advises a pea-sized amount, and it’s approximately that) into the palm of my hand.

Sensibio H2O Micellar Cleansing Water and Makeup Remover Solution

Sensibio H2O is the first and only dermatological micellar water that is completely skin-friendly: its fatty acid esters, which are micelle constituents, are similar to the phospholipids found in skin cell membranes and help to naturally rebuild the skin’s hydrolipidic film.

best skincare products, order of skincare products, affordable drugstore products, skincare products for acne, skincare products for men

Bioderma Sensibio H2O is surprisingly silky and soft compared to other cleansing fluids I’ve tested. As a result, applying it feels a touch opulent, which I love in a nighttime regimen. It removes makeup (though you may need to use a bit more than normal if it’s a heavy-duty formula) and hydrates skin better than a face wash, but its major selling point is its complete lack of irritation.

This is a wonderful, fluid texture that is both light and airy. It isn’t so light that it disappears completely once absorbed/rubbed into the skin, but it is light enough that it isn’t irritating and allows my skin to breathe. This also gives my skin a smoother appearance. It’s definitely hydrating, and as you can see, the result is more dewy than matte.

How to use retinol: A begginer’s guide

What exactly is retinol?

Retinol is a skin care ingredient that’s been called the holy grail due to its numerous benefits. It’s commonly used to improve skin texture and reduce dark spots. However, it can also cause side effects, such as soreness and redness.

Four Skincare retinol products on a white table
Favourite retinol products to start with

Retinol is a type of retinoid that’s naturally produced by your body. It helps boost cell turnover and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Here are some different types of retinoids:

  • Retinol
  • Tretinoin
  • Isotretinoin
  • Adapalene
  • Trifaro
  • Retinoldehyde
  • Tazarotene
  • Retinol esters

What retinol does?

Retinol is a powerful antioxidant that helps improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as reduce the risk of skin cancer. It can also help prevent and treat acne.

Is retinol suittable for all skin types?

Yes, any skin type can start using retinol, but sensitive skin types should be careful of the side effects which retinol has: such as mild irritation, dryness and sun sensitivity are normal because your skin adapts to the active ingredient, but redness, burning and intense flacking are not. So sensitive type and rosacea should be wary or they can use the the vegan natural alternative to retinol, bakuchiol. And should also be remembered that pregnat women should not use retinol.

What age should you start using retinol?

Best age to start is 25, because this is when collagen production will start to slow down. But also you should pay attention to the following signs like dynamic wrinkles, frown lines, crow’s feet, or laughter lines.

What retinol percentage should you use?

You should start slowly, with at least 0.1% retinol, retinyl esters or retinaldehyde. If your skin is not to sensitive you should strat with 0.5%.

How to add retinol to your skincare routine?

The first thing that you should know is that always apply retinol products at night, as sunlight can diminish their power. Retinol should be incorporate into your skin routine slowly and wih caution. The most common recommendation are these:

  • For the first two weeks, use retinol once a week;
  • In the next two weeks, use retinol twice a week;
  • After four weeks, use retinol every other day and see how your skin reacts to it, if it gets to sensitive use retinol only 2/3x a week.

Remember to apply only a pea-sized amount to your face and neck after double-cleansing and toner on dry skin. After it apply your favourite hydrating serum, eye cream, ceramides moisturiser and lip balm (because your lips can get really dry while using retinoids).

What should you do if your skin has a bad reaction to retinol?

The most common side effects are dryness and irritation, so is normal to have this, but if your skin is quie irritated you should cutting out the retinol application, along with other skincare products that contain active ingredients. Go back to a gentle routine and use only gentle skincare products. Once your skin is back to normal (it usually takes a month and a half), you can try retinol again, using it less frequently, but on a regular schedule.

What not to mix with retinol:

Don’t mix retinol with: benzoyl peroxide, vitamin C and AHA/BHA acids. AHA and BHA are also exfoliating acids and they toghether with retinol can irritate your skin really bad and also dry out. As for benzoyl peroxide and retinol, they cancel each other out.

What can you mix with retinol:

You can mix retinol with hyaluronic acid and ceramides. Also don’t forget to use SPF 50 religiously every day of the year, not only to prevent skin cancers, wrinkles and sun spots, but when you apply retinol (or other active ingredients) your skin is more sensitive to the sun.

How does retinol take to work?

Be patinet. you will see results after 3-6 months or a minimul of twelve weeks before you say that it’s not working for you!

Best Facial Cleansers for all skin type

What are Cleansers?

A facial cleanser is a skincare product used to remove make-up, dead skin cells, oil, dirt, and other types of pollutants from the skin, helping to keep pores clear and prevent skin conditions such as acne.

Finding the best cleanser can be tough given there are so many options. Knowing the differences between them will help you choose the best products for your skin.

  • Gel cleansers are clear with a gel-like consistency. Many have deep-cleaning and exfoliating properties—ideal for oily, acne-prone skin.
  • Cream cleansers are usually thicker and can be moisturizing, cleansing without stripping skin of its natural oils—ideal for dry or sensitive skin.
  • Foam cleansers are lightweight solutions creating a foamy lather when dispensed from a pump package. Foam cleansers are pleasant to use and remove excess oil as effectively as gel cleansers—ideal for combination skin.

These are my favourite cleansers of 2021:

3 cleansers that are good for all skin type, dry skin, combination skin and oily skin.

💦 @cerave Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser – this foaming formula is suitable for delicate skin and skin prone to mild eczema. It contains 3 ceramides to help strengthen and maintain the skin barrier, and triglycerides and squalane oil to help replenish natural skin’s lipids, suitable for normal to dry skin on the face of body.

💦 @youthtothepeople Kale+ Green Tea Spinach Vitamins – it smells so fresh kinda like cut grass. My skin looks way more hydrated, way more clean and my natural glow is way more visible after this.

💦 @paulaschoice Pore Normalizing Cleanser- this gentle, acne-fighting cleanser remove excess oil, pore-clogging debris and makeup without drying skin or causing redness. After this my skin feels clean and has stopped my breakouts entirely. 🤍

What’s your favourite cleanser of this year ? 💦

4 Hydrating Toners That Battle Winter Dryness

When fall and winter comes around, there is nothing more important than having a routine that is based in hydration.

Toner vs Essence:

A toner is typically swiped over the face with a soaked cotton pad, and an essence is pressed straight into the skin. … Essences are better for soothing irritated skin, hydrating a dehydrated skin and helping your skincare absorb more effectively.

Why you should use a toner/essence:

Toner removes any last traces of dirt, grime and impurities stuck in your pores after you wash your face. When added to your daily skincare routine and used regularly, it can have major positive impact on the appearance and tightness of your pores.

Are toners really necessary?

No, toning is not necessary for skin health. Toners were originally developed to remove soap scum from the face when lye-based soaps combined with hard water left a sticky residue post cleansing. The alcohol-based toner removed the soap scum eliminating irritation and contributing to cleanser mildness.

These are my top 4 hydrating toners/essence’s for this winter that everyone should try 🤍

3 skin barrier support picks

Most of the barrier damage comes from stripping your skin of its natural oils with harsh cleansers, acne medication, and acids. Scrubbing too hard, waxing, and using DIY ingredients like lemon and baking soda, and on some skin types, alcohol and fragrance are also common culprits for damage.

Signs of a Damaged Skin Barrier

Disruption in the core functions of the skin barrier can present in a number of ways, including:

  • Rosacea and eczema. These conditions are partly caused by a genetic defect in the skin barrier. However, additional outside damage to the skin barrier can cause these conditions to flare up.
  • Chronic skin irritation
  • Itchy skin
  • Dehydrated, dull skin
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Skin infections
  • Delayed wound healing

What Can Damage Your Skin Barrier?

In general, life damages the skin barrier.

  • Pollution
  • Wind
  • UV radiation
  • Frequent handwashing
  • Use of cleansers that strip the skin barrier of its natural oils
  • Overuse of exfoliating acids
  • Use of harsh physical exfoliants
  • Smoking
  • Lack of sleep
  • Stress
  • Nutrient-light diet

A combination of avoidable and unavoidable daily habits cause varying degrees of damage to the skin barrier.

How do you fix a damaged skin barrier? Hydrate Continuously. A damaged epidermis requires moisture, so keeping your face and body well hydrated is critical in the fight to restore and maintain a healthy skin barrier. Reach for creams, lotions and serums that contain moisture-binding humectants, such as glycerin, sorbitol, ceramides and hyaluronic acid.

These are the 3 most used products by me when my skin gets damaged:

@cosrx Snail Mucin- this stuff is awesome; it has made a huge difference in my skin. I have oily acne prone skin and this smoothed out my skin, helped with hyperpigmentation and is my saviour when my skin barrier is damaged! I totally recommend this to anyone! ✨

@vegreen_official Cica Serum – this serum contains Centella Asiatica extract to soothe and moisturize sensitive skin. It has a lightweight texture that get’s absorbed into the skin very quickly.

@cerave Hydrating Cream – has a unique formula that provides 24-hour hydration and helps restore the protective skin barrier with 3 essentials ceramides and hyaluronic acid. It has a non-greasy texture and is fast absorbing ideal for sensitive skin on both face and body.
